Stress, Anxiety & Depression Are About You, Not Your Symptoms

Stress, anxiety & depression are increasingly common these days. They may be diagnosed as problems in their own right, or they may be diagnosed as causing other health issues, or making existing symptoms worse. Sometimes stress, anxiety & depression are seen as a consequence of difficult or distressing life events, such as new parenthood, disatifaction at work, job loss, relationship difficulties, divorce, retirement, or bereavement. Sometimes they are considered to be part of already existing problems like skin conditions, IBS, high blood pressure, problems around eating and weight, anger, harmful habits, addictions, panic attacks and phobias. Most often there is a complex, personal mix of many of the above.

There is a lot we can do together that will help your feel better quite quickly - whatever the particular ingredients might be in your own case.

Underlying all stress, anxiety and depression is an overactive 'stress response'. This is simply a way of describing how your body and mind automatically respond to situations that seem threatening, too much to cope with, or beyond your ability your contol.

The Relax into Change approach to stress, anxiety and depression is designed to help you 'turn down' the 'stress response' in a variety of ways:

Information to help you understand exactly what is happening to you physically, and how this affects the way you think and feel. Understanding the effects of the 'stress response' makes it possible for you to change how you deal with it.

Counselling to help you identify any underlying sources of stress in your life and how to begin changing them.

Relaxation training to help you 'turn down' your 'stress response' in general, and to provide you with simple relaxation techniques you can use anytime and anywhere.

Hypnotherapy, where appropriate, to help you overcome any barriers to making the changes you want to make to feel better.

Ongoing support, because stress, anxiety & depression tend to make us feel alone with our problems, and feelings of hopelessness often make us withdraw and isolate ourselves even more.

Mobile service. If you genuinely feel unable to travel because of your symptoms, I can offer home visits until you are comfortable to do so.

Don't be alone with it - we all need help sometimes.
